The idea
Induced fit describes an enzyme and substrate each shifting shape slightly as they bind, refining an earlier model that pictured a rigid, instantaneous lock-and-key fit.
In practice
As hexokinase binds glucose, the enzyme's own shape adjusts around it, tightening the fit beyond what a static lock-and-key model would allow.
Where people slip
Induced fit expands lock-and-key into a dynamic, mutual-adjustment view — it is not lock-and-key restated.
