Allele Frequency
This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.
State
Allele frequency is the proportion of all copies of a gene in a population's gene pool that one specific allele accounts for.
Show
Counting a specific allele's copies and dividing by the total gene copies across the whole population gives its frequency.
Watch for
Allele frequency describes the whole gene pool, per Bio 1689 — not the fraction of individuals who are heterozygous or homozygous.
