The Wobble Hypothesis

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

The wobble hypothesis holds that a tRNA's third anticodon position can pair loosely with more than one codon base, letting fewer tRNAs read a degenerate code.

Show

One tRNA's wobble position can pair with either of two codons that differ only in their third base.

Watch for

Wobble pairing is restricted to a codon's third position — the first two positions must still pair exactly.
