The Law of Dominance

The idea
Mendel's law of dominance holds that in a heterozygote, one allele's trait conceals the other's, so dominant and recessive traits do not blend.
In practice
A Yy pea plant shows the dominant yellow-seed trait, with no trace of the recessive green allele.
Where people slip
This law describes phenotype in a heterozygote only — incomplete dominance and codominance are exceptions to it, not violations of segregation itself.
