P0, F1, and F2 Generations

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

P0 names the first parental generation in a cross; F1 names their offspring; F2 names the offspring produced by self-crossing the F1 generation.

Show

Crossing black-coated and red-coated P0 cattle gave an all-black F1 generation; crossing F1 cattle together gave a mixed F2 generation.

Watch for

Dominance is read from the F1 phenotype, not the P0 — assuming F1's trait is new is the mistake.
