The idea
The witness arranges the period along a spectrum with three overlapping camps. Traditionalists kept established forms and taught in universities. Idiosyncratic poets mixed traditional and new techniques into unique voices. Experimental poets were bohemian intellectuals who left the universities and attacked middle-class society.
