*Ariel* and the Late Poems
Captions available
The idea
Separated from Hughes and caring for two children through a London winter of extreme cold, Plath wrote a series of poems against the clock. They were collected as Ariel in nineteen sixty-five, two years after her death, and Lowell wrote the introduction.
In practice
A winter's work, published after her death.
Where people slip
Her early poetry is traditional and well made.
