Acids, Bases and pH
Captions available
The idea
The pH scale measures how acidic or basic a solution is. At 25 degrees Celsius, a pH below 7 is acidic, 7 is neutral, and above 7 is basic.
In practice
A solution of pH 3 is acidic, and one of pH 11 is basic.
Where people slip
Neutral is 7 only at 25 degrees; at other temperatures the neutral point shifts.
