ACT Preparation / Unit 22   ACT 2114 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Solutions and Concentration

Captions available

The idea

A solution is a uniform mixture of a solute dissolved in a solvent. Its concentration measures how much solute is in a given amount of solution.

In practice

20 grams of salt in 100 milliliters of solution is twice as concentrated as 10 grams in the same volume.

Where people slip

Adding solvent dilutes a solution: the solute stays the same, but its concentration falls.
