The idea
Socialism was born of the break with the society of orders and of industrial capitalism, and the word, French, dates from eighteen thirty-four, coined against individualism, the liberals' term, as moral decay. It was ethical before it was economic: goods in common, producers keeping the fruits of labor, community.
