Neo-Babylon: Trade, Astronomy, the Zodiac
Captions available
The idea
Neo-Babylon kept Assyria's terror and deportations but emphasized trade, building roads and canals and welcoming foreign merchants even in wartime. Its astronomers and mathematicians were the best yet, predicting eclipses, fixing calendars, and devising the zodiac.
In practice
Monumental building in Babylon; a century of power, then Persia.
Where people slip
Neo-Babylon is the empire that burned Jerusalem in five eighty-six. Video 0122 returns to it.
