The idea
Assyria destroyed Israel in seven twenty-two, the lost ten tribes. Neo-Babylon burned Jerusalem and the Temple in five eighty-six and deported tens of thousands: the Babylonian Captivity. Cyrus of Persia freed them in five thirty-eight and the Temple was rebuilt.
In practice
Many stayed in Babylon. The diaspora begins here.
Where people slip
Judah survived seven twenty-two by paying tribute; Israel did not. Keep them apart.
