The M-CaReM-AI Method: Defining Work for AI / Unit 1 MCM 019 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Running the Six-Question Diagnostic
The idea
The book offers a six-question diagnostic for whether a system has a material problem.
In practice
Step one: list the system's five to ten most important things. Step two: ask whether business, technology and compliance staff would agree with that list. Step three: for each core thing, ask whether one place says what it is for, what it contains, what states it can be in, and how it connects to other things. Step four: ask whether a newcomer asking what a Case is could be handed a short, trusted document. Step five: ask whether a change request has a clear path from the thing to everything that depends on it. Step six: ask whether the AI tools you use get a stable model of your things, or invent one each time.
Where people slip
Answers of "no" or "it depends" are not failures. They show where a material problem sits, which a process change alone will not fix.
