The Lost ARC / Unit 16 ARC 414 worked example, 60 to 90 seconds
Who Am I Becoming?
The idea
The book closes with the question it says holds every chapter together: who am I becoming as a leader, and who are others becoming because of me?
In practice
Step one: ask the question honestly, about your actual behaviour rather than your intentions. Step two: choose one action, not a grand gesture: give someone meaningful autonomy, repair a damaged relationship, or recognise an unacknowledged contribution. Step three: or protect someone from harm they cannot see, activate someone's dormant potential, listen to someone who needs to be heard, or model integrity when it is inconvenient. Step four: repeat it, because the book says leadership is built in small, repeated moments of intention, made consciously.
Where people slip
The book's last word is about control: you cannot control how long you lead or every outcome, but you can control the trust you build, the culture you shape and the people you empower.
