Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 28   TSC 688 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Contact Time

Captions available

The idea

Contact time is how long a surface or item must stay wet with a disinfectant for it to work.

In practice

The product label states the contact time, and federal law requires label instructions, including dilution and contact time, to be followed.

Where people slip

Wiping a disinfectant on and drying it off at once may not disinfect at all.
