Moving the Patient Off the Table

The idea
Moving the patient from the operating table to the stretcher uses the same safe transfer methods as moving them onto it.
In practice
Enough staff are present, a lateral transfer device is used, the anesthesia provider manages the airway, and lines and drains are protected.
Where people slip
Falls are a recognized risk at every transfer, so the patient is secured on the stretcher before it moves.
