The idea
Preference cards need regular review, because items that are opened and never used waste supplies and processing work.
In practice
Surgeons, nurses, scrub staff and processing staff review together which items are actually used, and update cards and trays to match.
Where people slip
When a card is wrong, tell the person responsible for updating it, rather than quietly working around it.
