The idea
Regulated waste includes liquid or semi-liquid blood or other potentially infectious materials, and items soaked or caked with them.
In practice
It goes into closable, leak-resistant containers marked with the biohazard label, which is fluorescent orange or orange-red, or into red bags.
Where people slip
Sharps never go in a bag, only in a puncture-resistant sharps container.
