Sociology / Unit 3 Soc 0333 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Globalization and Culture
Captions available
The idea
Globalization is the increased cultural contact and exchange among societies driven by trade, migration, and communication technology.
In practice
The same franchise appears on every continent and adapts its menu in each country it enters.
Where people slip
Globalization is not one culture replacing the rest; the same import is reinterpreted locally (Soc 0330), and contact also produces deliberate revival of local forms.
