The Contact Hypothesis

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Allport's contact hypothesis holds that contact between groups reduces prejudice only under conditions: equal status, shared goals, cooperation, and support from authority.

Show

A workplace team pursuing one target together meets the conditions; sharing a crowded platform with strangers meets none of them.

Watch for

Contact without those conditions can harden prejudice rather than reduce it.
