Social Sciences and History / Unit 6 SSH 0513 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Luther to Trent
Captions available
The idea
Luther objected publicly to the sale of indulgences, was excommunicated, and spread by print: faith alone saves, scripture alone rules. Zwingli and Calvin followed in Switzerland; Anabaptists rejected infant baptism; Henry the Eighth rejected the pope over an annulment.
In practice
Trent, from fifteen forty-five, reaffirming doctrine and passing reforms.
Where people slip
Unit 04 carries the reformations in depth.
