The idea
Parameswara founded the Malacca Sultanate about fourteen hundred astride the straits between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. It grew rich on diverse merchants, support for Islam, and a maritime code for foreign sailors.

Portugal took the city in fifteen eleven, then was expelled for forcing conversion.
