The idea
The Nuremberg Laws of nineteen thirty-five stripped citizenship; Kristallnacht, nineteen thirty-eight, the first mass roundup. The Holocaust began with the Soviet invasion: Einsatzgruppen shot about a million. From nineteen forty-two six extermination camps killed on arrival.
In practice
Eisenhower ordering the camps documented against future denial.
Where people slip
Extermination camps were not concentration camps, which numbered thousands. Some six million Jewish people were murdered.
