The idea
Four regions traded and corresponded in Akkadian: Greece, Anatolia, Canaan with Mesopotamia, and Egypt. The Hittites ruled Anatolia from about seventeen hundred BCE. Between twelve hundred and eleven hundred BCE most of these states collapsed.
In practice
Records stopping as bureaucracies failed, so the cause is unsettled.
Where people slip
Bronze needed tin from distant mines; when trade died, bronze died.
