Crude Birth Rate, Crude Death Rate, Natural Increase

Captions available

The idea

The crude birth rate is live births per thousand people in a year; the crude death rate, deaths per thousand. The rate of natural increase is births minus deaths, excluding migration. Morbidity is disease within a population; mortality, deaths.

In practice

Thirty births, ten deaths: two percent natural increase.

Where people slip

Crude because unadjusted for age structure.
