The idea
Confirmation bias is corrected by specifying in advance what evidence would count against the belief, before that evidence is collected.
In practice
A manager writes down, before the review period, which three outcomes would show the hire was a good one.
Where people slip
Resolving to be fair does not work. The disconfirming evidence has to be named while the belief is still open.
