Psychology / Unit 1   Psych 0051 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Random Sampling

Captions available

The idea

In random sampling, every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected for the sample.

In practice

Every enrolled student's identification number goes into one pool, and 200 numbers are drawn by computer.

Where people slip

Random sampling is not casual selection. Whoever happens to walk past the researcher is not a random draw.
