Psychology / Unit 2 Psych 0188 short lesson, about 20 seconds
The Peripheral Nervous System
Captions available
The idea
The peripheral nervous system consists of every nerve outside the brain and spinal cord.
In practice
The nerves running down the arm to the fingertips are peripheral, carrying signals both directions.
Where people slip
Peripheral does not mean minor. Damage here removes sensation and movement as completely as central damage.
