The Humanistic Approach
Captions available
The idea
The humanistic approach explains personality through conscious experience, self-concept, and the drive toward realizing one's potential.
In practice
A therapist takes a client's own account of who they are as the material to work with.
Where people slip
Self-actualization has resisted operational definition, which has kept the approach at the edge of the empirical literature.
