A Week of Exam Stress, Traced

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Tracing a stress episode means following it from stressor through appraisal, hormonal response, sleep, memory, and coping, and identifying where intervention would have mattered most.

Show

One student's exam week followed day by day: the initial appraisal, cortisol elevation, the sleep lost and the consolidation it cost, the arousal level at the exam and where it sat against the task difficulty, the coping strategies chosen and one that was mismatched to a controllable stressor. Ends by identifying the two points where a different choice would have changed the outcome and the one that would not have.
