The idea
Point-of-care equipment must be checked to show that it reads accurately.
In practice
Meters are calibrated as the practice's policy and the manufacturer require; the glucose kit includes calibration drops for this purpose.
Where people slip
If a quality check fails, do not test patients on that equipment; report it.
