The idea
Two steam-sterilizing temperatures are common: about two hundred fifty degrees Fahrenheit and about two hundred seventy degrees Fahrenheit.
In practice
A wrapped load needs about thirty minutes at the lower temperature in a gravity sterilizer, or about four minutes at the higher one in a prevacuum sterilizer.
