The idea
Certain words flag structure. Conclusion indicators: therefore, so, thus, hence, consequently. Premise indicators: because, since, for, given that.
In practice
"Since it's raining [premise], the game is off [conclusion]."
Where people slip
"Since" and "because" sometimes mark time or causes, not premises. Check what work the word is doing.
