In the United States, a stillbirth is the loss of a pregnancy at or after the twentieth week, the point where miscarriage ends.
In practice
The same loss labelled differently on either side of the twenty-week line.
Where people slip
International comparisons often use a later threshold of twenty-eight weeks, so rates reported across countries are not always comparable.
