Human Growth and Development / Unit 1   HGD 0012 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Heritability Estimates

Captions available

The idea

A heritability estimate is the extent to which genetic differences explain differences in a trait across a group of people.

In practice

Differences in a trait across many people, split into genetic and environmental shares.

Where people slip

It says nothing about one person. A heritability estimate never tells you how much of your own trait comes from your genes.
