Captions available

The idea

Pueblo is Spanish for town, named for permanent stone-and-mud buildings of multiple storeys. The Mogollon, Hohokam and Anasazi were its three groups.

In practice

Hohokam irrigation canals making desert agriculture possible, and by thirteen hundred the south-west's most populated settlements.

Where people slip

Anasazi means ancient enemy or ancient ones. Their cliff homes were reached by ladders that could be pulled up.
