Misconception: Experience Is Not Evidence

Captions available

The idea

The Stetler Model's position is narrower than either slogan. Unexamined opinion is not evidence; observation that has been reflected on and externalised is.

In practice

A clinician's pattern written down and examined, beside the same clinician's untested assertion.

Where people slip

Both extremes are wrong here — that experience counts for nothing, and that it counts merely because someone had it.
