Evidence-Based Practice / Unit 14 EBP 1960 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Reflected Experience Counts; Opinion Does Not
Captions available
The idea
In the Stetler Model, experience and opinion alone are not credible evidence. Experiential observations that have been reflected on and externalised are treated as valid evidence.
In practice
A clinician's pattern of observation written down and examined, rather than asserted.
Where people slip
The line is reflection and externalisation. What separates evidence from opinion here is whether it has been made examinable by someone else.
