The idea
The EBP process has seven steps, numbered zero through six.
In practice
Inquiry, question, search, appraise, integrate, evaluate, disseminate — seven named stages from a spirit of inquiry through to telling others what happened.
Where people slip
Numbering from zero is deliberate. Step zero underlies the rest rather than preceding and finishing, so a team at step four is still at step zero as well.
