The idea
A set of twenty-four evidence-based practice competencies exists for nursing: a core group for practising registered nurses, and a further group required additionally of advanced practice nurses.
In practice
One competency set with two tiers, the second building on the first.
Where people slip
The advanced set is additional, not alternative. An advanced practice nurse is expected to hold all twenty-four.
