The idea
Every competency reached consensus as essential in the first round. Four of the registered nurse competencies were then reworded on the panel's feedback, and one was split into two.
In practice
A competency divided because it had been asking for two abilities at once.
Where people slip
A competency asking two things cannot be assessed, because a clinician can meet half of it.
