Why Competencies at All
Captions available
The idea
A competency is a defined, assessable statement of what a clinician can do. Competencies exist so that a capability can be evaluated rather than assumed.
In practice
A stated ability that a clinician can be observed meeting or not meeting.
Where people slip
Unit 09 found many clinicians value evidence-based practice and cannot perform it. Competencies are the instrument that tells those two apart.
