Hamlet's Soliloquies
Captions available
The idea
Hamlet thinks aloud alone on stage. "O, that this too too solid flesh would melt" mourns his mother's hasty remarriage. "To be, or not to be, that is the question" weighs living against dying and fear of what follows death. The soliloquies make his mind the play's real action.
In practice
A mind arguing with itself, aloud.
