Adonais

The idea
Adonais, of eighteen twenty-one, is Shelley's pastoral elegy for John Keats, in fifty-five Spenserian stanzas, in the tradition of Milton's "Lycidas." It ends with the poet's spirit driven "far from the shore," lines the anchor reads as foreshadowing Shelley's own drowning.
In practice
A pastoral elegy for Keats.
Where people slip
Adonais follows "Lycidas."
