The idea
Legal blindness means vision of 20/200 or a very narrow visual field; low vision is less severe. Teachers use residual vision, nonvisual information such as Braille and tactile maps, and inclusion.
In practice
A tactile map lets a blind student trace the route from class to cafeteria.
Where people slip
Hearing and vision strategies match: use the remaining sense, add another, include.
