Sternberg's Triarchic Theory

Captions available

The idea

Robert Sternberg's triarchic theory proposes three intelligences: analytical, used in solving academic problems; creative, used in handling new situations; and practical, used in adapting to everyday life.

In practice

Solving a proof is analytical; inventing a game is creative; talking a landlord into a repair is practical.

Where people slip

Unlike g, the theory treats these as separate abilities.
