Educational Psychology / Unit 2 EDP 0124 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Quasi-Experiments

The idea
A quasi-experiment compares groups the researcher cannot assign at random, such as boys and girls, so it cannot support a claim about cause.
In practice
Comparing two teachers' existing classes: students chose their sections, so the groups differed from the start.
Where people slip
The design looks like an experiment, with independent and dependent variables, but without random assignment a confound can explain the result.
