The Distributed Denial of Service
Captions available
The idea
A distributed denial-of-service attack overloads a server, website, or network with traffic — multiple coordinated systems, often hijacked devices, generating congestion until service collapses.
In practice
A toll plaza buried under ten thousand simultaneous arrivals serves no one, which was the point.
Where people slip
Availability is an asset; this attack targets it by name.
