DOIs and URLs

The idea
A DOI, or digital object identifier, permanently identifies an article or book, and APA prefers it to a URL.
In practice
APA writes DOIs as full links beginning with the doi dot org address, converting older formats.
Where people slip
Do not end a DOI or URL with a period, which could be read as part of the link.
