College Composition / Unit 14   CMP 0335 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Combining Thin Paragraphs

Captions available

The idea

Several very short paragraphs on the same point usually belong together as one developed paragraph.

In practice

Three two-sentence paragraphs, each giving one example of the same benefit, read better as one paragraph with a single topic sentence.

Where people slip

Combining works only when the paragraphs share a point; joining unrelated ones breaks unity.
